A back-up generator is a permanently installed gaseous (natural gas, propane, or diesel) generator permanently installed at your home or business. It works in conjunction with an ATS (automatic transfer switch) or manual transfer switch to alter the homes power source in the event of a utility power outage. This equipment using an ATS is designed to automatically transfer power from the utility power source to the generator in 7-15 seconds. And when the utility power is restored, the generator will automatically turn off and transfer the power source back to utility power. Most units installed today come from the factory with WiFi monitoring in place for maintenance notifications which further improve reliability in the event of an extended power outage.
